ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM - EPS Warning Light Circuit |
DESCRIPTION
If the power steering ECU detects a malfunction, the P/S warning light comes on. At this time, the power steering ECU stores a DTC in its memory.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- HINT:
- When the power source voltage to the power steering ECU (terminals IG and PIG) drops, required steering effort increases and the P/S warning light turns on.
Using the intelligent tester, check for DTCs and confirm that there are no problems in the CAN communication system.
- OK:
- CAN DTCs are not output.

2.READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (IG POWER SUPPLY) |
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and press the intelligent tester main switch ON.
Select the item "IG Power Supply" in the Data List and read the value displayed on the intelligent tester.

| Ignition switch on (IG)
| 10 to 14 V
|
- OK:
- The normal condition value is displayed on the intelligent tester.
Remove the ECU-IG1 fuse from the instrument panel junction block.
Measure the resistance of the fuse.
- Standard resistance:
- Below 1 Ω
| CHECK FOR SHORT IN ALL HARNESSES AND CONNECTORS CONNECTED TO FUSE AND REPLACE FUSE |
|
|
4.CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER STEERING ECU - BATTERY) |
Disconnect the A2 and E21 ECU connectors.
Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connectors.
- Standard voltage:
