DISCONNECT STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for RHD)
REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR

REMOVE NO. 1 TURBO INSULATOR
REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT STAY

REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY
Monolithic Converter -- Removal |
- CAUTION:
- Do not remove the radiator reservoir cap sub-assembly, vent plug, radiator drain cock plug while the engine and radiator assembly are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.
Connect a vinyl tube with an inside diameter of 9 mm (0.354 in.) to the radiator drain cock as shown in the illustration.
Loosen the radiator drain cock plug.

Remove the radiator reservoir cap sub-assembly.
Using a wrench, remove the vent plug and drain the engine coolant from the radiator assembly.
- HINT:
- Collect the engine coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the local regulations.
Loosen the cylinder block water drain cock plug and drain the engine coolant from the engine.
Tighten the cylinder block water drain cock plug.
- Torque:
- 13 N*m{130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf}
Tighten the radiator drain cock plug by hand.
Remove the vinyl tube from the radiator drain cock.

4. REMOVE NO. 1 FRONT FENDER APRON TO FRAME SEAL RH |
Remove the 5 clips and No. 1 front fender apron to frame seal RH.
5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE |
Disconnect the mass air flow meter sub-assembly connector and detach the 2 harness clamps.
Detach the 4 clips.
Loosen the hose clamp and remove the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with air cleaner hose.
6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY |
7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 3 bolts and air cleaner case sub-assembly.

8. REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SENSOR |
Disconnect the connector from the differential pressure sensor.
Remove the bolt and differential pressure sensor from the pipe clamp.
Slide the 2 clamps and remove the 2 No. 1 air hoses from the differential pressure sensor.
9. REMOVE EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR |
- CAUTION:
- To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.
Disconnect the 3 connectors from the 3 exhaust gas temperature sensors.
Remove the nut and disconnect the No. 3 exhaust gas temperature sensor from the No. 1 vacuum pipe.
Remove the bolt and open the clamp of the pipe clamp.
Detach the 3 connectors from the pipe clamp.
Using a 14 mm union nut wrench, remove the exhaust gas temperature sensor from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.
Using a 14 mm union nut wrench, remove the No. 2 exhaust gas temperature sensor from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.
Using a 14 mm union nut wrench, remove the No. 3 exhaust gas temperature sensor from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.
10. REMOVE NO. 3 ENGINE COVER BRACKET |
Remove the 2 bolts and No. 3 engine cover bracket from the engine cover bracket and No. 2 engine cover bracket.
11. REMOVE NO. 1 VACUUM PIPE |
Remove the nut and clamp from the No. 1 vacuum pipe and No. 2 vacuum pipe.
Using a 17 mm union nut wrench, remove the No. 1 vacuum pipe from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.
12. REMOVE NO. 2 VACUUM PIPE |
Using a 17 mm union nut wrench, remove the No. 2 vacuum pipe from the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.
Remove the clamp from the pipe clamp.
Remove the 3 bolts and pipe clamp from the engine cover bracket.
14. REMOVE ENGINE COVER BRACKET |
Detach the 2 clamp and disconnect the engine wire from the engine cover bracket.
Remove the 2 bolts and engine cover bracket from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
15. DISCONNECT STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for RHD) |
Put matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft and No. 2 steering intermediate shaft.

Remove the bolt, and then pull out the intermediate shaft toward the inside of the vehicle.
16. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR |
- CAUTION:
- To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.
Disconnect the connector and 2 clamps.
Using SST, remove the air fuel ratio sensor.

17. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR |
Remove the 3 bolts and No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator from the exhaust manifold.
18. REMOVE NO. 1 TURBO INSULATOR |
Remove the 3 bolts and No. 1 turbo insulator from the exhaust manifold and turbocharger subassembly.
19. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT STAY |
Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and No. 2 exhaust pipe support stay from the cylinder block sub-assembly and exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.
20. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT STAY |
Remove the 3 bolts and exhaust pipe support stay from the cylinder block sub-assembly and exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.
21. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Remove the nut, exhaust pipe clamp and exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly from the turbocharger sub-assembly.
Remove the gasket.
