Main Body Ecu -- Removal |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.
- The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- CAUTION:
- Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
- NOTICE:
- After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (LandCruiser RM000003YMD00TX.html).
- When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (LandCruiser RM000003YMF011X.html).
2. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY LH |
for 5 Door:
Remove the door scuff plate assembly LH (LandCruiser RM0000046JL02NX_01_0001.html).
for 3 Door:
Remove the door scuff plate assembly LH (LandCruiser RM0000046JQ00WX_02_0001.html).
3. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH |
for 5 Door:
Remove the cowl side trim board LH (LandCruiser RM0000046JL02NX_01_0003.html).
for 3 Door:
Remove the cowl side trim board LH (LandCruiser RM0000046JQ00WX_02_0003.html).
4. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY |

for LHD:
Remove the screw.
Detach the 2 clips and 2 guides and remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover.
Disconnect each connector.
for RHD:
Remove the screw.
Detach the 3 clips and 2 guides and remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover.
Disconnect each connector.

5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH |

Put protective tape around the instrument side panel.

Using a moulding remover, detach the 5 clips, claw and 3 guides and remove the instrument side panel.
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ORNAMENT (for LHD) |

Put protective tape around the instrument cluster finish panel ornament.

Using a moulding remover, detach the 3 clips and remove the instrument cluster finish panel ornament.
7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PLATE GARNISH (for RHD) |

Detach the 4 clips.
Disconnect each connector and remove the instrument panel finish plate garnish.
8. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY |

Detach the 4 clips.
Disconnect each connector and remove the instrument panel finish panel.
9. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY |

Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and open the cover.
- HINT:
- Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

w/o Knee Airbag:
Remove the 2 bolts <C>.
Detach the 7 clips.
Disconnect each connector and each cable and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel.

w/ Knee Airbag:
Remove the 2 bolts <C>.
Detach the 14 clips.
Disconnect each connector and each cable and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel.

10. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (w/ Knee Airbag) |
Remove the 4 bolts and airbag assembly.

Disconnect the connector.
- NOTICE:
- When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
11. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY |
Disconnect the 3 connectors.

Detach the 2 claws and disconnect the 2 connectors labeled (1) as shown in the illustration.

Disconnect the connector labeled (2).
Remove the bolt and 2 nuts and disconnect the driver side junction block assembly.

Detach the claw and disconnect the connector as shown in the illustration.

Detach the 2 claws and release the connector's lock as shown in the illustration.

Detach the claw and disconnect the connector as shown in the illustration.

Remove the driver side junction block assembly.
12. REMOVE MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU |
Press the claw of the junction block as shown in the illustration to release the lock.

With the junction block lock released, insert a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape horizontally between the multiplex network body ECU and junction block.
- NOTICE:
- Use a screwdriver with a radius of between 5.0 mm (0.197 in.) and 6.3 mm (0.248 in.) and a length of approximately 90 mm (3.54 in.).
Using the screwdriver, carefully raise the multiplex network body ECU until the connector becomes disengaged.
- NOTICE:
- Do not twist the screwdriver to raise the multiplex network body ECU.

Raise the multiplex network body ECU as shown by arrow (1), and then pull it out as shown by arrow (2) in the illustration.
- NOTICE:
- Do not touch the ECU connector.
