Brake Booster -- Removal |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.
- The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.
- NOTICE:
- Make sure to release the vacuum from the brake booster before removing the master cylinder from the brake booster.
1. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID |
- NOTICE:
- Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.
2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE (for 2TR-FE RHD) |
Remove the air cleaner case (LandCruiser RM00000463700IX.html).
3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE ASSEMBLY (for 5L-E RHD) |
Remove the air cleaner case assembly (LandCruiser RM000000FYL01SX.html).
4. REMOVE CLUTCH TUBE (for Manual Transmission) |
Slide the clip and disconnect the clutch tube.

5. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Remove the brake master cylinder sub-assembly (LandCruiser RM000002WF107FX.html).
6. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING |
7. REMOVE PUSH ROD PIN |
Remove the clip and push rod pin from the brake pedal.
8. DISCONNECT BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS |
Loosen the brake master cylinder push rod clevis lock nut.
Disconnect the push rod clevis.
9. DISCONNECT VACUUM HOSE |
Slide the clip and disconnect the vacuum hose.

10. REMOVE BRAKE VACUUM CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY |
Remove the vacuum check valve assembly from the brake booster assembly.
11. REMOVE CHECK VALVE GROMMET |
Remove the check valve grommet from the brake booster assembly.
12. REMOVE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (for RHD) |
Remove the clutch master cylinder assembly (LandCruiser RM0000032R100BX.html).
13. DISCONNECT BRAKE TUBE CLAMP (for RHD) |
Remove the brake tube from the 2 brake tube clamps.

Disconnect the 2 brake tube clamps from the body.
14. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 4 nuts and brake booster assembly from the body.
- NOTICE:
- Do not damage the brake lines.

15. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET |
Remove the brake booster gasket from the brake booster assembly.
16. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS |
Loosen the lock nut and remove the brake master cylinder push rod clevis and lock nut from the brake booster assembly.
