MONITOR DESCRIPTION

If the ECM detects that there is a communication problem with an injector for a certain amount of time continuously, it illuminates the MIL.
A DTC is assigned for each cylinder. However, the cylinders cannot be distinguished. If there is no problem with the communication line, replace all the injector assemblies.
HINT:
If there is a problem with the communication line, the fuel temperature for the cylinder which has a communication problem does not change when "Fuel Temperature" is confirmed in the Data List.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT
  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

  1. Read the DTCs.

2.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INJECTOR ASSEMBLY - ECM)
  1. Disconnect the injector assembly connector.

  1. Disconnect the ECM connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  1. Reconnect the injector assembly connector.

  1. Reconnect the ECM connector.

3.REPLACE INJECTOR ASSEMBLIES OF ALL CYLINDERS
  1. Replace the injector assemblies (HILUX_TGN26 RM0000044TN00PX.html).

    NOTICE:
    1. When replacing the injector assembly for a cylinder, always be sure to use a new injection pipe.
    2. Follow the procedure in the repair manual and temporarily install the injection pipes and nozzle leakage pipe, and then correctly position the injector assemblies. After that, tighten parts according to the torque specifications.
    3. If the installation procedure is not performed correctly, injector assemblies may become out of position, which may cause the injector assemblies to deteriorate, resulting in malfunctions.
    4. If an injector assembly deteriorates and malfunctions, other problems such as knocking, rough idle, etc. may occur.
    5. If an injector assembly becomes out of position, it is possible that the seal between the injector assembly and injection pipe may become incomplete, resulting in a fuel leak.

  1. Bleed the air from the fuel system (HILUX_TGN26 RM000002SY802GX_01_0002.html).

5.CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS
  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and GTS on.

  1. Clear the DTCs (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000PDK12TX.html).

  1. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON for for 3 minutes or more.

  1. Turn the GTS on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

  1. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
