Thermostat -- Removal |
1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 4WD and Pre-Runner) |
2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT |
- CAUTION:
- Do not remove the radiator reservoir cap while the engine and radiator are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.
Loosen the radiator drain cock plug.
- HINT:
- Collect the coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the regulations in your area.
Drain the coolant by removing the radiator reservoir cap and, using a wrench, remove the vent plug.

Loosen the cylinder block drain cock plug.

3. REMOVE INTERCOOLER ASSEMBLY (w/ EGR Cooler) |
- w/ DPF: (HILUX_TGN26 RM0000015B901FX.html)
- w/o DPF: (HILUX_TGN26 RM0000015B9014X.html)
4. REMOVE VENTILATION HOSE HEAT INSULATOR (w/o EGR Cooler) |
Remove the 2 bolts and ventilation hose heat insulator.
5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY |
Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector.
Loosen the hose clamp.
Remove the 2 bolts and air cleaner.
6. REMOVE VENTILATION PIPE (w/ EGR Cooler) |
Remove the bolt and disconnect the 2 ventilation hoses and ventilation pipe.
7. REMOVE COMPRESSOR INLET ELBOW (w/ EGR Cooler) |
Loosen the clamp, and then remove the compressor inlet elbow and air cleaner hose from the turbocharger.
8. REMOVE COMPRESSOR INLET ELBOW (for DPF) |

Remove the No. 7 water by-pass hose and No. 9 water by-pass hose from the compressor inlet elbow.
Remove the 2 nuts, compressor inlet elbow and gasket from the turbocharger sub-assembly.
9. DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE OUTLET |
Disconnect the radiator hose outlet from the water inlet.
10. REMOVE WATER INLET |

Disconnect the wire harness clamp.
Remove the 3 bolts and water inlet.
Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket from the water inlet.
11. REMOVE THERMOSTAT |
Remove the thermostat from the cylinder block.
Remove the gasket from the thermostat.
