DTC P0135 Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 1) |
DESCRIPTION
Refer to DTC P0130 (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000ZQ9015X_01.html).DTC No.
| DTC Detection Condition
| Trouble Area
|
P0135
| Open or short in the heater circuit of the oxygen sensor for 0.5 seconds or more (1 trip detection logic).
| - Open or short in heater circuit of oxygen sensor
- Heated oxygen sensor
- ECM
|
- HINT:
- Sensor 1 refers to the sensor closer to the engine assembly.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
If the output from the heater terminal of the ECM (HT1A) is at a low level when current is not being supplied to the heated oxygen sensor heater, the ECM determines that there is a malfunction. The ECM then illuminates the MIL and stores a DTC.
MONITOR STRATEGY
Required Sensors/Components
| Heated oxygen sensor

Frequency of Operation
| Continuous
|
CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
- Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 5 seconds or more.
WIRING DIAGRAM
Refer to DTC P0130 (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000ZQ9015X_02.html).
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- HINT:
- Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.INSPECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR |
Inspect the heated oxygen sensor (HILUX_TGN26 RM000001421012X.html).
2.CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (+B OF HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR) |
Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Standard Voltage:
Tester Connection
| Switch Condition
| Specified Condition
|
C78-2 (+B) - Body ground
| Ignition switch ON
| 11 to 14 V

C78-1 (HT1A) or C75-1 (HA1A) - Body ground
| Always
| 10 kΩ or higher
|
| REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR |
|
|
4.CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS |
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the intelligent tester on.
Clear the DTCs (HILUX_TGN26 RM000000PDK12KX.html).
Start the engine.
Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving Pattern.
Read the output pending DTCs using the intelligent tester.

5.INSPECT NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY (MAIN) |
Inspect the No. 1 integration relay (MAIN) (HILUX_TGN26 RM000003BLB021X_01_0019.html).
| REPLACE NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY |
|
|
6.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR - NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY) |
Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
Remove the No. 1 integration relay from the engine room relay block and junction block.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Standard Resistance:
