INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM - Brake Warning Light Remains ON


DESCRIPTION

The skid control ECU is connected to the combination meter via CAN communication.
If any of the following is detected, the BRAKE warning light remains on:
  1. The skid control ECU connector is disconnected from the skid control ECU.
  2. The brake fluid level is insufficient.
  3. The parking brake is applied.
  4. EBD operation is not possible.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
When replacing the brake actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (CAMRY_ACV40 RM000000XHR05BX.html).
1.CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
  1. Check if the CAN communication system DTC is output (CAMRY_ACV40 RM000000WIB09JX.html for LHD, or CAMRY_ACV40 RM000000WIB09KX.html for RHD).

2.CHECK IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED
  1. Check if the skid control ECU connector is securely connected.

    OK:
    The connector should be securely connected.

CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU CORRECTLY

3.CHECK BATTERY
  1. Check the battery voltage.

    Standard voltage:
    11 to 14 V

4.INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (IG1 TERMINAL)

  1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.

  1. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).

  1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  1. Remove the reservoir tank cap and strainer.

  1. Disconnect the brake fluid level warning switch connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    HINT:
    A float is located inside the reservoir. Its position can be changed by increasing or decreasing the level of brake fluid.
    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection

    Float up (Switch OFF)
    1.9 to 2.1 kΩ

    Float down (Switch ON)

    HINT:
    If there is no problem after finishing the above check, adjust the brake fluid level to the MAX level.

  1. Perform Active Test of the combination meter (meter CPU) using the intelligent tester (CAMRY_ACV40 RM0000012G700LX.html).

    OK:
    The BRAKE warning light turns on or off in accordance with the intelligent tester.
    HINT:
    1. Reinstall the connectors and restore the vehicle to its prior condition before checking the combination meter.
    2. If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing the part (CAMRY_ACV40 RM000000XHN08DX.html).
