Cylinder Head - Reassembly

1. Install camshaft bearing cap setting ring pin

2. Install stud bolt

3. Install valve stem oil seal

4. Install intake valve

5. Install exhaust valve

6. Install oil control valve filter (for unleaded gasoline specification vehicle)

7. Install with head taper screw plug no. 2

8. Install valve lifter

9. Install with head taper screw plug no. 1

1. Using a plastic-faced hammer, tap a new ring pin in to the specified protrusion height.

   Protrusion height:

   8.5 to 9.5 mm (0.335 to 0.374 in.)
   

1. Using "Torx" socket wrenches E5 and E7, install the 7 stud bolts.

   Torque:

   Bolt A:

   10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7.4 ft.*lbf)
   

   Bolt B:

   4.0 N*m (41 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf)
   

   Bolt C:

   10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7.4 ft.*lbf)
   

   Bolt D:

   9.0 N*m (92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf)
   

   
   
   
   
   
   

1. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the valve stem.

   NOTICE:

   Installing the oil seal for intake and exhaust onto the opposite valve guide bush may cause failures.

   HINT:

   The intake valve oil seal is gray and the exhaust valve oil seal is black.

2. Using SST, push in a new oil seal.

1. Install the valve, spring seat, valve spring, and spring retainer.

   NOTICE:

   Reinstall the parts in their original locations in the original order.

2. Using SST, compress the valve spring and place the 2 retainer locks around the valve stem.

   SST

3. Using a plastic-faced hammer and the valve stem (not in use) with its tip wrapped in tape, lightly tap the valve stem tip to ensure a proper fit.

   NOTICE:

   Do not damage the valve stem tip.

1. Install the valve, spring seat, valve spring, and spring retainer.

2. Using SST, compress the valve spring and place the 2 retainer locks around the valve stem.

3. Using a plastic-faced hammer and the valve stem (not in use) with the tip wrapped in tape, lightly tap the valve stem tip to ensure a proper fit.

   NOTICE:

   Do not damage the valve stem tip.

1. Install the filter into the with head taper screw plug No. 2.

1. Using an 8 mm hexagon wrench, install the taper screw plug and a new gasket.

   Torque:

   30 N*m{306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf}

1. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the valve lifter.

2. Install the valve lifter.

3. Check that the valve lifter rotates smoothly by hand.

1. Using a 10 mm socket hexagon wrench, install the taper screw plug with a new gasket.

   Torque:

   44 N*m{449 kgf*cm, 33 ft.*lbf}
