Rear crankshaft oil seal 1GR-FE Removal

REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission)

  1. Remove the automatic transmission.

2. REMOVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

  1. Remove the manual transmission.

3. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission)

 

Using SST, hold the crankshaft. Rear crankshaft oil seal 1GR-FE Removal

  1. Using SST, hold the crankshaft.

Remove the 8 bolts, rear spacer, drive plate and front spacer. Rear crankshaft oil seal 1GR-FE Removal

  1. Remove the 8 bolts, rear spacer, drive plate and front spacer.

    NOTICE:

    Do not reuse the bolts.

4. REMOVE CLUTCH COVER ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

 

Put matchmarks on the clutch cover and flywheel. Rear crankshaft oil seal 1GR-FE Removal

  1. Put matchmarks on the clutch cover and flywheel.

  1. Loosen each set bolt one turn at a time until spring tension is released.

  1. Remove the 6 set bolts, and pull off the clutch cover.

    NOTICE:

    Do not drop the clutch disc.

5. REMOVE CLUTCH DISC ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

NOTICE:

Keep the lining part of the clutch disc, pressure plate and surface of the flywheel away from oil and foreign matter.

6. REMOVE FLYWHEEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)

 

Using SST, hold the crankshaft. Rear crankshaft oil seal 1GR-FE Removal

  1. Using SST, hold the crankshaft.

Remove the 8 bolts and flywheel. Rear crankshaft oil seal 1GR-FE Removal

  1. Remove the 8 bolts and flywheel.

    NOTICE:

    Do not reuse the bolts.

7. REMOVE REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL

Using a knife, cut off the lip of the oil seal. Rear crankshaft oil seal 1GR-FE Removal

  1. Using a knife, cut off the lip of the oil seal.

  1. Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal.

    NOTICE:

    Be careful not to damage the crankshaft. Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
