Instrument Panel Safety Pad - Installation(2010/08 - )

1. Install no. 3 instrument panel stay

2. Install instrument panel safety pad assembly

3. Connect instrument panel wire assembly

4. Install no. 1 defroster nozzle garnish

5. Install front no. 2 speaker assembly (for lh side)

6. Install instrument panel no. 1 speaker panel sub-assembly

7. Install instrument panel no. 1 register assembly

8. Install front pillar garnish lh

9. Install front no. 2 speaker assembly (for rh side)

10. Install instrument panel no. 2 speaker panel sub-assembly

11. Install instrument panel no. 3 register assembly

12. Install front pillar garnish rh

13. Install no. 1 console box insert front

14. Install no. 2 console box insert front

15. Install console box assembly

16. Install console box carpet

17. Install console box pocket

18. Install radio tuner opening cover with heater control panel assembly (w/o radio receiver)

19. Install radio receiver with heater control panel assembly (w/ radio receiver)

20. Install navigation receiver with heater control panel assembly (w/ navigation system)

21. Install instrument panel no. 2 register assembly

22. Install upper console panel sub-assembly

23. Install upper console rear panel sub-assembly (for automatic transaxle)

24. Install upper console rear panel sub-assembly (for manual transaxle)

25. Install floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly (for automatic transaxle)

26. Install upper console panel (for manual transaxle)

27. Install no. 2 instrument cluster finish panel garnish

28. Install no. 1 instrument cluster finish panel garnish

29. Install shift lever knob sub-assembly (for automatic transaxle)

30. Install shift lever knob sub-assembly (for manual transaxle)

31. Install lower instrument panel sub-assembly

32. Install instrument panel no. 2 under cover sub-assembly

33. Install cowl side trim sub-assembly rh

34. Install front door scuff plate rh

35. Install combination meter assembly

36. Install instrument cluster finish panel no.1

37. Install lower instrument panel finish panel (w/o entry and start system)

38. Install lower instrument panel finish panel (w/ entry and start system)

39. Install no. 1 instrument panel sub-assembly

40. Install turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly

41. Adjust spiral cable sub-assembly

42. Install steering column cover

43. Install lower instrument panel finish panel lh

44. Install cowl side trim sub-assembly lh

45. Install front door scuff plate lh

46. Install steering wheel assembly

47. Install steering pad

48. Install lower no. 3 steering wheel cover

49. Install lower no. 2 steering wheel cover

50. Connect cable to negative battery terminal

51. Inspect steering pad

52. Inspect srs warning light

1. Engage the claw and install the 5 new No. 3 instrument panel stays.
   

   
   
   
   

1. Engage the 5 claws.

   NOTICE:

   Do not allow the wire harness to get caught in the claws.

2. Install the 2 bolts <H> or <O> and 2 nuts <C> or <I>.
   

   
   
   
   

3. Engage each clamp.

4. Install the bolt <J>.

   Torque:

   7.0 N*m{71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf}

5. Install the 2 passenger airbag bolts <K>.

   Torque:

   20 N*m{204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf}

6. Connect each connector and install the instrument panel safety pad assembly.

7. with Plasmacluster:
   

   1. Connect the connector.
      

      
      
      
      

1. Connect the connector (yellow colored one).

1. Connect each connector.

2. Engage the 4 guides.

3. Engage the 8 clips and install the No. 1 defroster nozzle garnish.

1. Connect the connector.

2. Install the front No. 2 speaker assembly with the 2 bolts.

1. Engage the 2 guides.

2. Engage the 6 claws and the 2 clips to install the instrument panel No. 1 speaker panel sub-assembly.

1. Engage the 4 clips and install the instrument panel No. 1 register assembly.

1. Remove the protective cover.

2. Install a new clip <A> on the front pillar garnish LH.

3. Engage the 2 claws and 2 clips, then install the front pillar garnish LH.

HINT:

Use the same procedures for the RH side and the LH side (Click here).

1. Engage the 2 guides.

2. Engage the 6 claws and the 2 clips to install the instrument panel No. 2 speaker panel sub-assembly.

1. Engage the 4 clips and install the instrument panel No. 3 register assembly.

1. Remove the protective cover.

2. Install a new clip <A> on the front pillar garnish RH.

3. Engage the 2 claws and 2 clips, then install the front pillar garnish RH.

1. Engage the clip.

2. Install the No. 1 console box insert front with the 3 screws <F>.

1. Engage the clip.

2. Install the No. 2 console box insert front with the 3 screws <F>.

1. Install the 2 screws <F>.

2. Install the console box assembly with the 2 bolts <G>.

1. Install the console box carpet.

1. Install the console box pocket.

1. Connect the connector.

2. Engage the 6 clips.

3. Install the radio tuner opening cover with heater control panel assembly with the 4 bolts <N>.

1. Connect each connector.

2. Engage the 4 clips.

3. Install the radio receiver with heater control panel assembly with the 4 bolts.

1. Connect each connector.

2. Engage the 4 clips.

3. Install the navigation receiver with heater control panel assembly with the 4 bolts.

1. Connect the connector.

2. Engage the 7 clips and install the instrument panel No. 2 register assembly.

1. Connect each connector.

2. Engage the 4 claws.

3. Install the upper console panel sub-assembly with the 2 screws <F>.

1. Connect the connector.

2. Engage the 3 claws and 5 clips to install the upper console rear panel sub-assembly.

1. Engage the 3 claws and 5 clips to install the upper console rear panel sub-assembly.

1. with Seat Heater System:
   

   1. Connect each connector.

2. Engage the 6 claws and the 3 clips to install the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly.

1. Engage the 2 claws and the 5 clips to install the upper console panel as shown in the illustration.

1. Engage the 2 clips and install the No. 2 instrument cluster finish panel garnish.

1. Engage the 2 clips and install the No. 1 instrument cluster finish panel garnish.

1. Install the shift lever knob sub-assembly.

1. Install the shift lever knob sub-assembly.

1. Engage the 3 claws and 3 clips.

2. Install the 4 screws <B>.

3. Install the lower instrument panel sub-assembly with the bolt <A>.

1. Engage the 4 claws and 2 guides and install the instrument panel No. 2 under cover.

HINT:

Use the same procedures for the RH side and the LH side.

1. Connect each connector.

2. Install the combination meter assembly with the 4 screws <E>.

1. Engage the guide and the 4 claws.

2. Install the instrument cluster finish panel with the 2 clips.

1. Engage the 2 claws and 2 clips to install the lower instrument panel finish panel.

1. Connect the connector.

2. Engage the 2 claws and 2 clips to install the lower instrument panel finish panel.

1. Connect each connector.

2. Engage the 3 claws and 2 clips to install the No. 1 instrument panel sub-assembly.

1. Check that the ignition switch is off.

2. Check that the battery negative (-) cable is disconnected.

   CAUTION:

   Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.

3. Rotate the spiral cable counterclockwise slowly by hand until it feels firm.

   NOTICE:

   Do not turn the spiral cable by the airbag wire harness.

4. Rotate the spiral cable clockwise approximately 2.5 turns to align the marks.

   NOTICE:

   Do not turn the spiral cable by the airbag wire harness.

   HINT:

   The spiral cable will rotate approximately 2.5 turns to both the left and right from the center.

1. Engage the claw and install the upper steering column cover.

2. Engage the 2 claws and install the lower steering column cover.

3. Install the steering column cover with the 2 screws <D>.

   Torque:

   2.0 N*m{20 kgf*cm, 18 in.*lbf}

1. Install the air hose and connect the connector.

2. Engage the 2 claws and the DLC3.

3. Engage the claw and the 4 clips.

4. Instal the lower instrument panel finish panel LH with the screw <B> and bolt <A>.

1. Engage the 2 clips.

2. Install the cowl side trim sub-assembly LH with the cowl side trim clip.

1. Engage the 7 claws and 3 clips, then install the front door scuff plate LH.

1. Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

2. Install the steering wheel assembly set nut.

   Torque:

   50 N*m{510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf}

3. Connect the connectors to the spiral cable sub-assembly.

1. Check that the ignition switch is off.

2. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.

   CAUTION:

   Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.

3. Support the steering pad with one hand.

4. Connect the 2 airbag connectors to the steering pad.

   NOTICE:

   When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

5. Connect the horn connector to the steering pad.

6. Confirm that the circumference groove of the "TORX" screw fits in the screw case, and place the steering pad onto the steering wheel assembly.

7. Using a "TORX" socket (T30), tighten the 2 "TORX" screws.

   Torque:

   8.8 N*m{90 kgf*cm, 78 in.*lbf}

1. Engage the claw and install the No. 3 lower steering wheel cover.

1. Engage the claw and install the No. 2 lower steering wheel cover.

1. With the steering pad installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the steering pad with a new one:

   1. Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the steering pad top surface or in the grooved portion.
      

2. Make sure that the horn sounds.

   HINT:

   If the horn does not sound, inspect the horn system (Click here).
