Windshield Glass - Removal(2006/01 - 2007/12)

1. Disconnect cable from negative battery terminal

2. Remove front wiper arm and blade assembly lh

3. Remove front wiper arm and blade assembly rh

4. Remove front fender to cowl side seal lh

5. Remove front fender to cowl side seal rh

6. Remove cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly

7. Remove inner rear view mirror assembly (w/o ec mirror)

8. Remove inner rear view mirror stay holder cover (w/ ec mirror)

9. Remove inner rear view mirror assembly (w/ ec mirror)

10. Remove rain sensor cover

11. Remove rain sensor

12. Remove rain sensor tape (if replacing rain sensor tape)

13. Remove front door opening trim weatherstrip lh

14. Remove front door opening trim weatherstrip rh

15. Remove front pillar garnish lh

16. Remove front pillar garnish rh

17. Remove roof console box assembly

18. Remove visor assembly lh

19. Remove visor assembly rh

20. Remove visor holder

21. Remove front assist grip sub-assembly

22. Remove roof headlining assembly (w/o sliding roof)

23. Remove roof headlining assembly (w/ sliding roof)

24. Remove windshield moulding

25. Remove windshield glass assembly

26. Remove window glass adhesive dam

27. Remove no. 2 windshield glass stopper

28. Remove windshield glass retainer

29. Remove no. 1 windshield glass stopper (for 2-piece type)

30. Clean windshield glass

31. Clean vehicle body

1. Remove the nut and the front wiper arm and blade assembly LH.

1. Remove the nut and the front wiper arm and blade assembly RH.

1. Disengage the claw and remove the front fender to cowl side seal LH.

1. Disengage the claw and remove the front fender to cowl side seal RH.

1. Remove the 2 clips.

2. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly.

1. Disengage the 2 claws and the cover.

2. Pull the lever in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration and slide the inner rear view mirror assembly upward to remove it.

1. Slide the inner rear view mirror stay holder cover and disengage the 2 claws as shown in the illustration to remove it.

1. Disconnect the connector.

2. Using a "TORX" socket wrench (T20), remove the screw.

3. Slide the inner rear view mirror assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration to remove it.

1. Remove the rain sensor cover.

1. Release the stopper by pulling the stopper down and disconnect the rain sensor as shown in the illustration.

2. Disconnect the connector and remove the rain sensor.

HINT:

If replacing rain sensor tape.

1. Remove the rain sensor tape.

   NOTICE:

   The rain sensor tape can be reused, however, replace it with a new one if it is dirty or damaged.

1. Pull the upper part of the garnish toward the inside of the cabin and disengage the 2 clips.

2. Cut off the clip <A>.

3. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the front pillar garnish LH.

4. Remove the clip <A> from the vehicle body.

5. Protect the curtain shield airbag assembly.
   

   1. Cover the airbag with a 700 mm (27.56 in.) x 120 mm (4.72 in.) cloth or piece of nylon and fix the ends of the cover with tape, as shown in the illustration.

      NOTICE:

      Cover the curtain shield airbag with a protective cover as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.

1. Pull the upper part of the garnish toward the inside of the cabin and disengage the 2 clips.

2. Cut off the clip <A>.

3. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the front pillar garnish RH.

4. Remove the clip <A> from the vehicle body.

5. Protect the curtain shield airbag assembly.
   

   1. Cover the airbag with a 700 mm (27.56 in.) x 120 mm (4.72 in.) cloth or piece of nylon and fix the ends of the cover with tape, as shown in the illustration.

      NOTICE:

      Cover the curtain shield airbag with a protective cover as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.

1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 2 clips and 2 claws.

2. Disconnect the connectors and remove the roof console box assembly.

1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 claws and remove the visor bracket cover.

2. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the visor assembly LH.

HINT:

Use the same procedures for the RH side and the LH side.

1. Turn the visor holder approximately 45°and pull it out as shown in the illustration.

2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the visor holder.
   

   
   
   
   

   HINT:

   Use the same procedures for the RH side and the LH side.

1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 6 claws and remove the 2 assist grip covers.

   HINT:

   Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

2. Disengage the 2 clips and remove the front assist grip sub-assembly.

   HINT:

   Use the same procedures for the RH side and the LH side.

1. Using a knife, cut off the moulding, as shown in the illustration.

   NOTICE:

   1. Do not damage the vehicle body with the knife.
      
   2. If the vehicle body is damaged, repair the damaged portion by applying an anti-rust coating after removing the windshield glass.
      

2. Remove the remaining moulding from the windshield glass.

   HINT:

   When removing the moulding, make a partial cut, then pull and remove it by hand.

NOTICE:

1. There are No. 1 and No. 2 stoppers on the windshield glass as shown in the illustration. Be careful not to damage the windshield glass when cutting off the adhesive.
   
2. To prevent the windshield glass from dropping when performing this operation, be sure to hold the windshield glass using suction cups.
   

HINT:

Depending on vehicles, a 1-piece or 2-piece type stopper is used.

1. Apply protective tape to the installation position of the windshield glass assembly on the vehicle body.

   HINT:

   Apply protective tape to the installation surface to prevent it from being scratched.

2. Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and glass from the interior.

3. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.

4. Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the windshield glass.

   NOTICE:

   1. When separating the windshield glass, take care not to damage the paint or the interior and exterior ornaments.
      
   2. To prevent the safety pad from being scratched when removing the windshield glass, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and safety pad.
      

5. Place matchmarks on the windshield glass and vehicle body on the locations indicated in the illustration.

   HINT:

   Matchmarks do not need to be placed if the windshield glass is not going to be reused.

6. Using a suction cup, remove the windshield glass assembly.

   NOTICE:

   1. Be careful not to drop the windshield glass.
      
   2. Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the windshield glass.
      

1. Using a scraper, remove the adhesive dam.

   NOTICE:

   1. Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.
      
   2. Be sure to replace the adhesive dam with a new one.
      

1. Using a scraper, remove the 2 No. 2 stoppers.

   NOTICE:

   1. Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.
      
   2. Be sure to replace the No. 2 stoppers with new ones.
      

1. Using a scraper, remove the 2 retainers.

   NOTICE:

   1. Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.
      
   2. Be sure to replace the retainers with new ones.
      

1. Remove the 2 No. 1 stoppers.

   NOTICE:

   Be sure to replace the No. 1 stoppers with new ones.

1. Using a scraper, remove the adhesive tape and adhesive sticking to the windshield glass.

   NOTICE:

   Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.

2. Clean the outer circumference of the windshield glass with a non-residue solvent.

   NOTICE:

   1. Do not touch the windshield glass surface after cleaning it.
      
   2. Even if using a new windshield glass, clean the windshield glass with a non-residue solvent.
      

1. Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.
   

   1. Using a knife, cut away any rough adhesive on the contact surface of the vehicle body to ensure the appropriate surface shape.

      NOTICE:

      Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

      HINT:

      Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.

   2. Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with a piece of cloth saturated with cleaner.

      HINT:

      Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
