Parking Brake Cable - Installation

1. Install parking brake cable assembly no. 3

2. Apply high temperature grease

3. Install parking brake shoe

4. Install parking brake shoe strut lh

5. Install parking brake shoe strut compression spring

6. Install parking brake shoe return tension spring

7. Check parking brake installation

8. Install rear disc

9. Adjust parking brake shoe clearance

10. Install rear disc brake caliper assembly lh

11. Install rear wheel

12. Install console box assembly rear

13. Install console panel sub-assembly upper

14. Install console upper rear panel sub-assembly

15. Inspect parking brake pedal travel

16. Adjust parking brake pedal travel

1. Install the parking brake cable assembly no. 3 with the clip to the parking brake equalizer.

2. Install the parking brake cable assembly No. 3 with the 4 bolts.
   

   
   
   
   

   Torque:

   13 N*m{127 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf}

3. Install the parking brake cable assembly No. 3 with the 2 bolts to the backing plate.

   Torque:

   8.0 N*m{82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf}

1. Apply the high temperature grease to the shoe attached surface of backing plate (Click here).

1. Install the shoe lever and the shim to the rear shoe with a new C-washer.

2. Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance.

   Standard clearance:

   Less than 0.25 mm (0.0098 in.)
   

   If the clearance is not within the specification, replace the shim with one of the correct size.

   0.4 mm (0.016 in.)	0.9 mm (0.035 in.)
   0.5 mm (0.020 in.)	-

3. Apply the high temperature grease to the adjusting bolt and piece.

4. Install the shoe adjusting screw set and the tension spring to the front and rear shoe.

5. Install the 2 pins, 4 cups and 2 shoe hold-down springs.

6. Connect the parking brake cable to the shoe lever.

7. Install the front and rear parking brake shoe.

1. Using a needle nose pliers, install the 2 return tension springs.

   HINT:

   Install front side spring first, rear side spring next.

1. Check that each part is installed properly.

   NOTICE:

   There should be no oil or grease adhering to the friction surface of the shoe lining and disk.

   
   
   
   
   
   

1. Temporarily install the hub nuts.

2. Remove the hole plug, and turn the adjuster and expand the shoes until the disc locks.

3. Contract the shoe adjuster until the disc rotates smoothly.

   Standard :

   Return 8 notches
   

4. Check the shoe has no brake drag.

5. Install the hoke plug.

1. Install the rear disc brake caliper assembly LH with the 2 bolts.

   Torque:

   105 N*m{1,071 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf}

Torque:

112 N*m{1,137 kgf*cm, 83 ft.*lbf}
